“Women’s health is the key to the health of the nation” Under this slogan, an intra-university Olympiad in “Obstetrics and Gynecology” was held at AzMI named after S. Tentishev on 22 March 2024 among 4-6 year students of the Faculty of General Medicine.
This event focused on the topic of emergencies in obstetrics and gynecology. According to world statistics, maternal mortality increases every year; a huge number of pathologies and, unfortunately, medical errors can contribute to an increase in this figure. During their development as a specialist, future doctors need to master all the skills of providing qualified medical care at all stages. The task of the educational institution is to provide knowledge, transfer all clinical experience and strengthen all this in conditions that are close to real ones.
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics of AzMI named after S. Tentishev together with the Student Parliament of our institute organized the Olympics within the framework of this program. Students of 4-6 years took part in 4 teams. The opening and welcoming words were presented to the rector of AzMI named after S. Tentishev, Professor T.T. Selpiev. The Olympiad consisted of 4 rounds: Business card, test tasks on the topic, clinical tasks and tasks on practical skills and manipulations. Each stage was regulated and limited in time, so the participants faced a difficult task: to give the most correct answers in the shortest possible time and work as a team. The spectators of the Olympics did not go unnoticed either, who had the opportunity to take part in an interactive competition with prizes. A competent jury from among the teaching staff of our university gave objective assessments and identified the winners; each participating team was awarded certificates, diplomas and memorable prizes.
